It’s traditional, at this time, to publish my end of year list. But as a) it’s more than thirty items long, b) I’m currently lying in a chalet in Fremantle, a long way from my computer, and c) I’m typing this on my phone, that one’s going to have to wait.

Ah, one of my favourite times of the year, the pre-Christmas cookapalooza.
Today: balsamic cherries, Caesar dressing, glazed ham, roast chicken log.
Tomorrow: Egg nog, apricot bellini base, slow-cooked loaded potatoes, key lime pie, lemon meringue pie
Christmas morning: Mango salsa
A strange confluence of events today: we discovered a rotten potato at the bottom of the potato bag in our cupboard– the first time in 15 years that this has happened to this potato-loving family– and a Facebook friend asked for recommendations for quick and cheap mashed potato replacements. Which made me realise that we’ve completely changed our potato habit with one very quick simple recipe. So I thought I’d post it here for your entertainment.
